Are your 1.25" thick Travertine Pavers sufficient enough to be laid on top of concrete?
Question: Are your 1.25" thick Travertine Pavers sufficient enough to be laid on top of concrete? We are laying this over concrete. Are there any issues with the thickness of this paver such as cracking?
Answer: 1.25" is the industry standard thickness for Travertine Pavers. Due to the density of a good quality Travertine, this thickness does not lead to any issues with cracking, even in a sand-setting. The PSI for Travertine Pavers is typically between 7000-8000 psi.
Travertine Pavers can be laid on top of an existing concrete surface or dry-set on top of sand and gravel.
In freeze/thaw climates, sand-set is the only recommended installation method. If you need to mortar the travertine, use a flexible mortar such as Flex-Bond.
