One of the most asked questions is the difference between Brushed and chiseled tiles and tumbled travertine pavers.

Travertine tile is usually either 1/2" or 3/8" thick. Travertine pavers are 1.25" thick.

Travertine tile needs to be mortared in on concrete (mud-set) Travertine pavers can be dry-set on top of sand and gravel. They can also be mortared in on top of concrete.

Tumbled travertine pavers are ideal for pool decks and patios. They have rounded edges and a slight roughness that is hardly visible to the eye. The rougher surface provides traction for the feet and help minimize puddles through it's porous surface. 

Travertine tiles can be used both indoors and outdoors. Honed & Filled travertine tile is only suggested for indoors, however brushed and chiseled travertine tiles are appropriate for both indoors and outdoors. The ideal use for brushed and chiseled travertine tiles is covered outdoor areas. That being said, they are also appropriate for outdoor areas that are not covered. The brushed & chiseled travertine tiles have a honed and brushed surface, which is smoother compared to tumbled travertine. The chiseled edges help provide additional traction.
